The Importance of Breathing

A Word from Jenn:

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone that comes to me for massage. This is all possible because of you and I have much gratitude. It is very safe to say that I love what I do for a living and hope to be around for a very long time with your continued support.

Massage is personal, and I am in touch with this. Any time a person receives massage from me, it is for them, tailored to their needs for that day. I do not believe in "cookie cutter" massage. Having said this, I'd like everyone to know that I take great pride in my work. I want every person that gets under my hands to receive the best massage they possibly can. In order for this to happen, one must receive massage well. I tell people that a massage is only as beneficial as the recipient lets it be. This means a person must be open and willing to receive the work through relaxation and breath work. If a person tightens up in response to pressure, then any work done is mute. Muscles need to be relaxed in order to be manipulated.

For all this to happen, client and therapist must "jive". When the two people "jive", then relaxation may be achieved, energy can flow and healing can take place. If the two don't meet up energetically, then boundaries are formed and the result is a massage that may not be what you were hoping for. Finding the right therapist may take some shopping around. Don't get discouraged. When you find the right one it will be worth your patience. My hope is that everyone who gets a massage from me will absolutely love it and we will make a great therapeutic match. However, I do understand that it is unrealistic to think you can please all the people all the time and I would like to honor every body's right to body work that suits their needs, even if it is not from my hand.

As a 2000 graduate from the Center for Massage and Natural Health in Weaverville NC, and having been in practice since then, I have had some time to develop my skill and learn a bit about a number of different modalities and become quite proficient at many of these. I have a large bag of tricks to choose techniques and modalities from ranging in intensity and style of treatments. Check the "modalities" page for a general listing of services offered.

The most common feedback from my massage is that it is therapeutic, detailed and often times intense.

Whether you are looking for a more therapeutically based massage for relief from pain, or just some time to wind down and let go of some tension, I hope to be able to help you achieve your goal. Let my experience shine and give me a chance to give you a great massage.
